The EF1216 is a compact spring-loaded pressure safety and relief valve intended for the protection of pipelines, pressure vessels, process equipment and industrial utility systems. Its threaded BSP or NPT configuration makes it particularly suitable for small and medium relieving duties involving steam, gases, vapours and liquids.
Yes. The EF1216 can be considered for thermal expansion protection, particularly where liquid can become trapped between closed valves or inside an isolated section of piping. As the trapped liquid heats up, thermal expansion can produce a significant pressure increase even though the required relieving quantity may be relatively small. The set pressure and required relieving capacity must still be determined from the actual thermal-relief scenario.
Thermal relief describes the overpressure scenario, rather than necessarily a different valve technology. A compact spring-loaded pressure relief valve can be used for thermal expansion protection when its pressure range, certified capacity, materials and configuration are suitable for the required duty.

ABOUT EF1216

The EF1216 is a compact spring-loaded pressure safety valve (PSV) for overpressure protection of pipelines, pressure vessels, process equipment and industrial utility systems.

Available with BSP or NPT threaded connections, the EF1216 is designed according to EN ISO 4126-1/7 and EN 12516-1 and can be used with steam, gases, vapours and liquids. The current range covers sizes from ½" x ¾" to 2" x 2" and pressure ratings up to PN40.

Depending on the selected configuration, corrosion-resistant materials and cryogenic executions down to -196°C are available. Final valve selection should be based on the required set pressure, relieving capacity, temperature, fluid properties and project requirements.
